Mini carrots

Without doing any research here's what we think.

Karin thinks mini carrots are grown as regular size carrots and cut
into tiny ones.

I think they're grown small at the greenhouse mini carrot farm.

What do you think?

I think that they're actually whittled down big carrots. Although the image of tiny little carrots growing in tiny little rows in wee little greenhouses is quite enchanting. Maybe they're harvested by gnomes?

I think they're made the exact same way as particle board.

regular carrots are put into a grinder, and then the carrot-dust is then pressed into smaller carrot form.

which is also the exact same way little smokies are made, just not with carrots.

They are big carrots that have been cut up. Somewhere is my countless hours of Food Network viewing, I have learned this tidbit. Sorry to have shattered your dreams.

If you can pull carrots out of the ground before they get big, you'll be in for a treat. Mass produced "mini" carrots are indeed just whittled big carrots, but when they are harvested early they have an amazing sweetness.
